Singing lessons, vocal coaching and voice training

Creating a well supported voice through the use of the breath...and learning a vocal technique that allows you to sing with freedom and confidence

How to breathe

The quality and expressiveness of the sound you make depends as much on feeling and imagination as on your physical vocal technique. Your voice and body need to work together. One to one singing lessons will teach you to sing with your own voice.

Develop your range

For singers, actors, poets, teachers and anyone wishing to discover their voice. Beginners are very welcome too. Learning a singing and vocal technique will help you to use your voice as it should sound naturally and protect its health and longevity.

Project your voice

You will learn how to breath properly, how to project your voice fully and how to sustain a note. As well as help with pitching, developing your range and evening out breaks in your voice. You will gain confidence and enhance your recording and performance technique.

Merry has just finished recording her second album, produced by Martin Glover aka Youth and due for release on the Creation Youth record label early in 2025. Her debut album, 'The False Bride', also in the psychedelic folk genre and produced by Youth is available on Soraya Recordings. ‘Rose Warrior’ and ‘Seal Skin’ from the album have been played recently on BBC Radio 2. A singer, performer and songwriter, Merry has toured Europe extensively, written and recorded with the late, great Malcolm McClaren and made several appearances on Glastonbury’s Avalon Stage, Merry is accompanied on guitar and bass by psych legend Bruce Lister Welch. Merry’s powerful and soulful singing voice is often compared to Annie Haslam and Sandy Denny, legendary singers with progressive folk bands Renaissance and Fairport Convention respectively.

What my students say

Merry has been helping me with my singing for a few years. Not only is she a brilliant and a versatile vocalist, she is a natural teacher as well. As I'm mainly a guitarist, I wanted to start singing as well and so took up lessons with her. She provided exactly what I wanted. Lessons are based around my interests, she is always encouraging and supportive and works in a relaxed environment. Merry is also just a very nice person to talk to, which make lessons work well - Michael Mangroo

Merry McCloud is a true professional...

...and works very instinctively. This helped me gain my confidence as I had not sung for many years. But she quickly got me back into the swing of it, physically as well as psychologically too. I would have no problem recommending her to anyone. She is 100% professional and a lovely intuitive person, who always puts you at your ease - Grace Fielding

Before I started singing lessons...

I’d written some guitar songs to play and record, but I’d never sung before and the weak link in the first recordings was my poor singing. Merry’s voice coaching quickly gave me vocal confidence and skills and I'm proud of the re-recorded songs. We practiced a lot together over several sessions, including stance/breathing basics, warm-up exercises, feedback on my phrasing, what key suited my vocal range and how to put emotion into my singing. Merry is a warm, knowledgable, clear and encouraging teacher and my improvement would never have happened without her help - Phil Sellers
